Bionicle MOC: Nekhbet by 3rdeye88 Bionicle MOC: Nekhbet by 3rdeye88
About the MOC
I felt like doing another Mini MOC to distract me from the current MOC(as of writing this) that's giving me all kinds of problems. So I figured what way to vent MOCing frustration than to build a Mini-MOC, and also continue to prove that its not just big MOCs I can build.
Nekhbet came about from tinkering, and attatching the claw piece onto the Hero Factory armor part and saying to myself "Oh hey, that looks like a Vulture, neato!" That then lead me to build the rest.
Nekhbet's name is taken from a Predynistic egyptian Goddess who is the patron of the city of Nekheb. I was struggling to find a name I liked and I just came across it, and Egyptian mythology is one of my favorite sources for inspiration. They hieroglyphs in the bottom right hand corner are "Nekhbet" written in hieroglyphics.

Bio
Nehkbets are small scavenger rahi that pose little threat to just about anything, will befriend any sentient being willing to feed them and not treat them with any hostility, and generally reside in arid regions such as Po-koro or Po-Metru. Most Matoran don't bother them since they help keep pests away. Some do if their business or trade are small animals or insects as Nekhbeks will boldly fly in to a home, shop, or the bazaar to swipe a quick meal.
Handling Nekhbek's can be difficult to weaker entities such as Matoran since their outer bodies are made of protodermis that can get scorching hot from being perched in the sun all day. Po-Matoran like to kid that Nekhbeks would be a Ta-Matoran's best friend if they preferred to live there. :P

Well do you have the parts to build what you can see? Really there's only two pieces in this whole thing You can't see all that well. Do you know what Jumper plates are, the tile pieces that are 2X1 and have a single stud right in the middle of the piece. Those two pieces connect the red parts you see on his stomach. Everything else attaches from there, and you can see where everything else goes.

Very nice. That'd be cool. You wouldn't be the first to recreate this MOC. :iconwdenniz: remade it. He showed it to me. :P I think this one's going to get recreated a lot actually.

The same things I said on MOCpages. Love how simple it is, and how functional and beautiful at the same time. Is pretty hard to make a decent bird which can extend and fold its wings, and look good in both ways. One of my favourites from you!

(P.S: I know you have better creations like Matteo or Kutumah, but ah, I love simplicity <3)

I have been recently upgrading my Kiryoki and I took inspiration from this little fella, hope you don't mind (when presentated, credits will be given, of course).

Do you keep it assembled?

I actually love how it's starting to look now, but I'm trying to cover some gaps right now. I'll try to upload something this week, thought. Thanks a lot ^^

Oh yeah, glad to hear that! *^* By the way, here we have the Razar Ultrabuild at the same price as the others, 15 dollars. Ja! =)

That's always good. If you're happy with the MOC, that's all that truly matters.

Lucky you. Its a few dollars more expensive here, but so far its just at Toys R Us, that may change once its at other stores. TRU always tends to be a few dollars more.

Thanks. Egyptology and mythology are cool topics. I like to draw on those a lot. I think Kutumah draws the most since I directly use Hawaiian and Polynesian mythology to create his character. And it also inspired his build. This was the opposite though. I just built a MOC then had to find a cool name that related to some kind of vulture. That lead me to the Egyptian White Vulture, and that in turn led to Nekhbet. :P
