Bionicle MOC: Matteo by *3rdeye88 is an original character made entirely from Lego elements. The attention to detail in this piece is remarkable and definitely worth a closer look.

Description

Edit: 3/12/2019-Update 5.0
Matteo got new sleeves in black, to make his coat more cohesive. This is also to bring him more in line with a lot of the artwork of him. His lower arms also were revisited. His blades now attach on differently.

I smoothed out his torso. Its now mostly dark red with the exception for the chest. Like in the artwork Hashiara did, its supposed to be an embroidered waistcoat.

He has a new belt. I didn't like Matteo's old belt, it was cumbersome and weird, plus Lego made this new zipline part in gold. This one is modeled more after medieval belts where the slack draped down past the buckle(think Game of Thrones belts).

I removed the tasset from his waist. It was a little unnecessary and cluttered up the overall look. I initially added it to splash more red in, but I decided I didn't like it.

About The MOC

Matteo is what I consider to be my official Self-MOC. He is by far my most developed character of any of my MOCs, currently assembled or otherwise. He's also my personal favorite and most worked on my, which was why he became my Self-MOC Matteo represents an old Plague Doctor. This was also what he was called before I gave him a name.

The idea I've tried to instill within this MOC was practicality, antiquity, and style. All of his accessories were meant to be as realistic as possible, while retaining a theme that Matteo is an old fashioned kind of person with his own sense of style. While I can't date any specific period he is supposed to represent in MOC form I do know that all his artifacts predate modern technology and probably predates 19th century technology as well. I would place the artifacts on his person from around 14th-18th century.

A little about his character
Matteo is an immortal, a survivor of a race of Ancient people who found a method to cease aging and gain physical attributes that were wiped out through genocide. Matteo is immortal in the sense that he does not age, and has a certain resilience to diseases and injury, though he still could be killed by most conventional methods(shot or pierced through the head, burned, etc). These attributes have allowed Matteo to survive where most others would have died. This also made him excellent as an Apothecary during a plague as he was always immune to it, or at worst experienced some sickness, but not enough to kill him. Matteo's biography is quite extensive, and as a result I don't quite have it all mapped or figured out. Everything I do know I have learned through the help of collaboratiors, naimly Acyrotin where he appears as a main character in her series, Witching Hour, and collaborating with wolfbossx. He helped early on in figuring out who Matteo is and a lot of Matteo's origin story came from collaborating with Jake. I can assure you though it is quite a tale to be told.

Good god, this is an excellent representation of those old plague doctors, as it perfectly captures the feeling of dread upon seeing them. I especially like that cape of his, it's beautiful. I have no idea how you managed to create his head, but I think it suits him perfectly. I'm certain if the back spikes are necessary, but this is a fictional figure made for intimidation purposes, so I'll let it slide, also because they look cool on him.

Also, interesting choice for a self MOC, first time I've ever saw someone envisioning themselves as a plague doctor.
