About The MOC
For those of you here who do not already know, Kalikiki is a female Toa of water and is the Self MOC/Self OC of the amazing la in love Spotlight KaibaGal Spotlight la in loveI don't know how much Megan has revealed of this character so I'll just say that she is a female toa of Water who is part of a toa team with other other Original Characters of hers.

I feel this is a special MOC for me. I don't usually build other people's OC's. but the reason I did here is because Megan is such a wonderful member of our community here, she's inspired a lot of art, and is just an all around amazing person to have as a friend. I've enjoyed her artwork ever since I discovered her, and she's done some cool stuff for so many people, including me that I felt like I should pay it forward/back. Also, I felt compelled to do this because I haven't seen any other MOCs of this character that I felt did her justice. Suffice to say I think the other Kali MOCs out there are kinda shit.<strike(sorry other MOCers). So I wanted to do this. The only aspect I'm not really satisfied with is some of the coloring, and Kali's mask. Its the one part that challenged me the most and caused me problems. I experimented with the Gali mask as a lot of MOCers used and A) found it to be too small, and B) not quite the right shape, or accentuating the right shape, then C) I discovered that the protector mask is almost the right shape and just needed some additions. Low and behold we have Kalikiki's mask, complete with signature cheek guards. :la: Then like I said the coloring is a bit off. I wasn't too happy having three shades of "light blue/Aqua" to represent what should be one color, but looking at Kali in the drawings, she sometimes has a fair amount of blue shades to her, so I guess it's alright. Of the three colors used I like the Dark Azure from the Bionicle G2 parts the most. I feel it more closely resembles the color used in the actual Kali drawings. It was also a lot of fun building this MOC because I had a lot of closely resembling reference material to use, which is unusual for me. I'm not used to building something that's already got Bionicle parts in it, therefor making parts choices all the easier. I might have to try building other people's OCs more often. I wonder who I should build next. :ponder:

For comparisons check out these amazing drawing of Kali:

One other thing I would like to note is that the sword is a direct copy of the one Megan made for her MOC of Kali. However I decided to make it pure silver(minus the axle for the handle) because it is not an elemental weapon for a toa. Nihkan(pictured in the last photo above) made it. So I wanted to portray it as a simple hunk of metal(well Protodermis technically), so I wanted it to be devoid of anything elemental related. Then I would also like to mention that some of the poses and photos are based off of some of these drawings, or photos of Megans MOC as well.

To Megan
I hope you like her, I can't say I worked too hard on her given that most of her was pretty easy to figure out, except for that damned awesome, but frustrating to recreate mask of yours. Damn its so cool but was a total bitch to get the angles right, and they still aren't. I hope something off of my MOC can inspire you with yours, or maybe even the drawings. I'd also just like to say thank you for all you've done, not just for me with the cool Matteo drawing, but for the community at large. I feel like you've introduced so many other artists to me and invigorated the Bionicle art community more than it was with your own art. Its great to have you here and I just want you to know that you and your art are appreciated and loved, and that it's been an absolute joy getting to know you and being your friend. Please never stop doing the wonderful things you do Megan.

Okay, so... Where should I start with this MOV Kalikiki..? Now, I have to be honest that this Kalikiki MOV is pretty okay and good looking, but she lacks some... Well I will talk about those soon.

The built has pretty original vibe going on, which I approve that. Everything here has own original builds, such as limbs and torso and the head. Almost it has original built, and why is almost well, the lower arms I have seen before, but other than that, everything else on Kalikiki MOV own original build. But, I'm talking about visuality soon.
But, the color scheme, well you nailed it well, almost. The stomach area, not quite sure on that, I would prefer blue CCBS shell part, but oh well. That belly ruby thing is kinda cool detail though.
Anatomically, it is pretty well catched from her drawings.

However, there are few of problems as well. Well, the head of Kalikiki, well okay, I admit, that the head is really cool looking. But it doesn't say Kalikiki to me, visually. But it still has own style which you came across, and that's good. But the biggest problem really is the look of Kalikiki, I understand that you built her that way. Of course it is your style and way how you built it, but it is way too complex for her look. Now, I don't mean it negatively, but I think it should have been "simplified", so she doesn't have complicating design.
Secondly, I really dislike to say, but I feel, that your version of Kalikiki is unfinished, some of them. The thighs of her seems gappy, okay because ot is the way you built it, and those blue socket joints on her lower back, I think there should have been other parts.

So, how should I sum this up, well, I like that you built with your way, so it has original built, but I don't like the fact it doesn't look Kalikiki to me, almost. Physically it is fascinating, but visually really don't describe Kalikiki, most of it. This MOV Kalikiki describes something else character, to be fair, but it is still nice looking though.
