About The MOC
Here's yet another MOC I did in about a day. This time is a Fusion MOC, using System parts and technic/bionicle. Woohoo. I Technically only have one other Fusion MOC, the Reta-Sarka-V12 I've accomplished a few things I've always wanted to do with this MOC, and they are:

  • Build a very lanky "standard size" style MOC, but simply elongate and exaggerate the proportions. I was thinking of doing this by making my own version of Treebeard or a generic Ent From Lord Of the Rings. But I got to that item on the checklist with "Nales" here.

  • Make a Scarecrow. I didn't really have any distinction as to whether it'd be a benevolent scare crow, or an evil one like what's more popular nowadays. This one is the first. :)

  • Use brown and Tan parts as the main color scheme. I tried to do this on Atlas to a small extent, but didn't really fully incorporate the color Tan.

  • Build a fusion MOC figure. As stated, I had done a fusion MOC once before, but not a figure.

I guess in a somewhat subconscious manner, this MOC had been given a fair amount of thought before building it.
One giant icon cookie to anyone who can figure out which part I used as the basis for his body. I'll give you a hint, it is indeed a system part, its tan, and you can make out the angle of it on either side of his torso. :) Its a pretty unusual part to.
The printed piece on his chest is supposed to represent a glowing from inside his chest.
Also, I'm aware of his Sheppard's stick being flimsy and bent slightly. Its made of axels being held together by the tubes and connected with axle connectors.
Interesting piece of trivia is that Hyde's(Or Autumnales') head is more or less what I wanted to change Matteo's head to, to make it more proportionate to his body without his mask or hat. I would have substituted some of the colors to fit his color scheme, leaving just the face in tan.

Bio
Hyde, as he's most commonly known by is a spirit created by a goddess of harmony. His age is unknown, but its suspected that it predates recorded history. Those who have lived longer than a lifetime know his true name though, Autumnales, the harvest spirit. "Autumnales" is Latin(or some variation of the word according to google translate) for Autumn(like that's not obvious). He is referred to as Hyde for his mischievous nature of playing hide and seek with those he befriends and hiding things from them. "Nales" as Matteo refers to him seldom regularly appears to an individual from the mortal world, but there are a few exceptions, Matteo being one of them due to Matteo's immortal nature.
Hyde is a deceptively Dim creature, he doesn't speak, and only makes a high pitched "Oooooo" sound to convey feelings, if he speaks at all. Usually his is completely mute. He is normally seen standing in the field or crops of farmers around the Autumn months. Whether he is standing in a farmer's field on a sunny, overcast or rainy day is a sign of whether or not next year's harvest will go well or not. This has lead to Hyde being a misunderstood and feared spirit. He isn't hostile in most any situations with mortals, they usually aren't close enough to attack. In the event he comes across a more powerful mortal(one possessing magac or other abilities) that is aggressive he is typically passive aggressive, or simply defensive, and responds by fleeing. But this is a different case with other spirits or entities. If a village is abusing the land he protects he will make more frequent visit, plague the farmer or village with slight misfortune and his own trickery until the abuse is ended. If the village does not comply he will beckon malevolent spirits to the village or farmer's land. By the same Token, if a village or farm has his blessing he will ward away evil spirits. This is typically what requires him to be aggressive towards other non-mortals. Most wise enough apparitions don't argue with Autumnnales, for they know he's not to be trifled with,
Other than beckoning or warding away spirits Hyde doesn't concern himself with the affairs of spirits, and accept for maintaining order in his lands, doesn't bother with those of mortals either. He mostly keeps to himself, except for occasionally visiting the few immortals he's befriended.

As an overall "grade", I think this one deserves a 1/10 or perhaps a 2/10

the build itself is very bad. the overall uneven armoring and the lack of attention to detail make this moc suffer. the build looks very simple (which sometimes works. but not this time) and the blending of system and bionicle looks lazy to me.

vision:
was nice, but it didnt look like you had the "full picture" before you began to build; it looks improvised. the proportions are odd (yes, i knw you wanted them to be, but the thighs are way too ling in comparison with the shins) and the hat was too simple, oddly colored, and far too tall for any practical use.

the originality:
was one of the crations only strong points, and i rather like the concept but the ideas presented are done so in a very sloppy way.

technique:
the blending of system and bionicle in this moc is sloppy, and the moc is lacking a defined detail. the ankles, the shins, the feet, the thighs, and the body all need a complete overhaul.
the feet do not incorperate any clever piece combinations and they look like you just threw a handful of parts together in the best way you could while still retaining some degree of stability. those feet are gappy, and akward in appearance. the shins are, again, sloppy and lacking in defined shape. the shins are just a couple of limb pieces with some system smashed together (it looked like you were just trying to throw more system in there to make it coherent with the rest of the moc, and you didnt pay attention to shape while doing so) those ankles are skinny and boring. the thighs are very bad. the thighs are far too simple and lack shape; they look loke big blocks with NO shape. they are simple, TOO defined and waaaaaay too blocky, not to mention that those tubes sticking out of the legs are out of place. the torso looks boring and blocky, again, the giant system blocks are making this moc look bad. you need to give the moc more shape and less block, and those circular plates all over the place are strange looking and out of place. also, the arms are simple, but better than the rest of the moc.

Impact:
when i saw this one, i thought "nice effort, but you still fail at shaping, sorry dude"

dont take this as a piece of spam or a troll message, i'm just being completely truthful, and if i offended you, woooooops

Well it's that time when I get to write a critique for one of my fav DA mocers.
To start with I have to say that it has a huge impact when you first see it. The overall layout is quite good as it shows detailed images on the entire moc aswel as displaying articulation (sitting down) and a form of scaling (beside Matteo).
The colour scheme works beautifully for the whole moc and gives it that whole relaxed and peaceful tone making the being seem malevolent and kind rather than an imposing being that would strike fear into many. The colour for the background is perfectly chosen as it's almost like leaves for an Autumn effect adding to the tranquility and quant beauty of the piece.
The overal build is quite magnificent in itself. The fusion of technic and brick pieces here work seamlessly together to form and overal roundded shape provided by the bricks with also technic detailing to enhance specific areas. The head itself is very impressive as the simple arrangments of a few small blocks make a wonderful little face and the red eyes, while normally made to seem imposing, work well against the tans and browns of the moc.
Overall it lives up to the great expectations of 3rdeye88 fans and delivers the attention to detail and originality we all love to see and admire. Well done on another fantastic piece mate.

I'm not going to make a critique since I'm not good enough to judge this creation properly. It has some points on his structure I think they need a bit of work (like the lower legs), but also his color scheme reduces his posibilities of improvement a lot due to the lack of parts in those colors, so I think that you did your best with the available parts.

My favourite of the Doctors, I love his color scheme, his impressive heigth and his happy face =3 Great job, my dear!

Oh crap, this comment got buried under other comments. I've been busy lately. Sorry. ^^;

I agree that the lower legs could use some work. Over all he could probably use a second looking at now that I have some perspective on the MOC.

I'm glad you like him. His benevolent nature I think won most people over, even if he's not the most well built MOC. I wasn't exactly going for that though. I was wanting to capture his character. Now that I know I've done that, I'll take your advice and see what I can do to improve. I think you'd be surprised what's available in his color scheme. Brown and tan were used in bionicle, but moreso in system which he's largely made of.
